This free webinar gives you the opportunity to learn about the validation of furanic humins by Tom Claessen, Business Development Manager Humins at Avantium. The 100 % bio-based side stream of PEF production can be used as a basis for thermoset and other binder applications. After his 30-minute presentation, Tom Claessen will answer your questions …
Using plant-based sugars as a resource leads us to a well-known debate: The competition between food and non-food when it comes to bio-based crops. This debate is flawed, subjective and not fully based on evidence. What is detrimental to food security are, according to the World Food Programme in 2023, climate change, conflict, extreme inequalities …

Everything you ever wanted to know about sustainable paint and coatings: The PERFECOAT Webinar Series
First webinar “Towards bio-based paints and coatings – Fundamentals and an introduction to the PERFECOAT project” on 5 March 2024, 13.00-14.00 (CET), online
The unique conference focused on cellulose fibres – in textiles, hygiene products and packaging. The Cellulose Fibres Conference 2024 will cover the entire value chain, from lignocellulose, chemical pulp, cellulose fibres such as rayon, viscose, modal or lyocell and new developments to a wide range of applications.
This second episode of the PERFECOAT webinar series will present success stories and challenges of developing bio-based ingredients for paint and coating formulations. From bio-based binders made from alginate, xylan, chitosan to modified yeast to innovative natural pigments and dyes produced from yeast and fungi, and functional nano materials.
Explore the latest bio-based solutions for a variety of applications. The event combines presentations, a poster exhibition and plenty of opportunities for networking. Speakers will include researchers involved in the development of new bio-based materials and representatives from industry and the CBE JU.
The organisers of the event, the BBI JU projects CHAMPION and PERFECOAT, aim to replace conventional fossil-based materials with novel bio-based ones. The CHAMPION project focuses on bio-based thermoset coatings, structural adhesives, automotive interior surfaces and home care additives, while the PERFECOAT project is all about new bio-based ingredients for paints and coatings for wood and decorative applications. Four other thematically related European projects will also present their experiences in the quest for innovative and sustainable bio-based materials and products.
Save the date and register to the next PEFerence webinar! This time, Pia Skoczinski from nova-Institute will give a sophisticated insight into the dynamically growing market of bio-based building blocks and polymers on the 𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐲 (𝟏𝟎 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟏 𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐄𝐓). Besides the well-known PHA and PLA, a highlight will be set on PEF and …
This insightful webinar will delve into the real-world performance of cutting-edge advancements in bio-based solutions within the paint and coatings industry, subjecting them to a rigorous reality check.
